Jon Huntsman Jr.
Utah Governor

The Washington County Economic Summit is pleased to have the new Utah Governor, Republican businessman Jon Huntsman Jr., as the lunch keynote speaker. Huntsman has stated his main goal is to build a stronger economy, which he believes is crucial to Utah's future and a major component in funding a quality education for our children and our grandchildren.

After attending last year's Summit prior to declaring his gubernatorial candidacy, Huntsman expressed his favorable impression of the economic vitality of Southern Utah. He will be addressing Summit participants just days before the opening of the Utah State Legislature.

He is chairman and CEO of Huntsman Family Holdings Co., the private company that oversees the North American portion of the business empire owned by his father, John M. Huntsman Sr., and other family members.

Jon served four times as a Republican national delegate, worked on campaigns of President Reagan, Bob Dole and George W. Bush, and was a Legislative intern for Sen. Orrin Hatch. As U.S. Ambassador to Singapore, he was the youngest Ambassador in more than 100 years. Jon has a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Pennsylvania.

Jon, 44, and his wife, Mary Kaye, have six children.
